State’s Rights – State Vs. Federal
We are a nation of United States, a Federal Republic. In order to preserve the power of the people and keep it as local as possible, the U.S. Constitution gives individual states considerable power. One example is the Electoral College system of electing the President of the United States. Each state gets as many electoral votes as it has U.S. Senators and U.S. Representatives. As each state gets 2 Senators irrespective of population, the system is stacked in favor of the less populous rural states.
